Love Making Candles

I have been hand pouring candles for the past four years. This is I thought going to be a hobby...Well I started selling my candles at Christmas Boutiques, Farmers Markets and soon it became a small business. I love making candles and would love to spend my whole day making them...but this is a home based business and I have my household chores to do, even though my children are all grown, my husband is retired and he kind of takes the place of my children---as a figure of speech.I love that he is retired though. Since I moved to the Central Valley I have to more or less start at the begining again, but that's okay-I have dear loyal friends that are my customers and I thank God for them. My Webstore has been up and running since April 2014. Making container candles is a great challenge I love it-but there can be some faustrations or downsides to making 100% Soy candles. Take for instance this is a natural product and each is unique. I purchase my wax at 11-30 pounds..once I have depleated that bulk and purchase another..well sometimes it may not be the same as the bulk I purchased before., That is do to the natural wax itself. When I first started making candles, I would read and watch videos and found that everyone has a different way in making candls...such as pouring temperatures, when to add color, when to add fragrance, how and what to melt wax in, how to weigh your wax, color, and fragrance. I have found that everyone does it differently. I prefer not to add color in 100% Soy..my experience has been that no matter what temp I pour Soy-I would always seem to have frosting around the edges. It does not effect the fragrance or quality..it just does not make a pretty candle. So I alway pour my 100% Soy without color-(dye free). I use a Soy Paraffin Blend, which I do add color. I have found that when making your own candles you have to remember not to add to much color because color can take away from the fragrance and the burn. I have also found that some fragrance no matter what- are going to have a light throw or aroma-you have to also becareful not to over add fragrance-this can also deplete the burn time and fragrance itself. All in all I love making candles and making candles you will Love. I will start adding some helpful hints on burning candles, how long, and how to clean your beatiful candle containers rather than throwing them away. until next time...have a wonderful blessed day.
